Our Mission
At Hollywood Headstart, our mission is to empower aspiring entertainment professionals with personalized coaching that bridges the gap between academic learning and the dynamic Hollywood industry. We are committed to providing tailored guidance, actionable strategies, and expert mentorship. We help students build confidence, develop industry-specific skills, and take meaningful steps toward achieving their dreams in the entertainment world.

Introductory Package: "Breaking Into Hollywood"
Who It’s For: Beginners exploring the industry.
Focus Areas:
$275
1. Overview of career paths in Hollywood.
2. Tips for starting in the industry (networking, internships, entry-level jobs).
3. Action plan for the next 3-6 months.
Bonus: Follow-up email with key takeaways and a personalized checklist.
Duration: 2 sessions (1 hour each).
Resume Review and Personal Branding
Who It’s For: Students preparing for job or internship applications.
Focus Areas:

1. Detailed review of resume(s) tailored to the entertainment industry.

Requirement: Resumes must be submitted at least 48 hours before the session for pre-review.

Flexible, based on the client’s immediate needs (e.g., advice on a project, interview prep, or industry insights).
Bonus: Follow-up email summarizing the session’s key points.
Duration: 1 session (1 hour).

Additionally, while our coaching focuses on equipping you with the tools, strategies, and confidence to pursue your Hollywood dreams, we cannot guarantee job placements or specific outcomes. Your success will depend on your dedication, skills, and effort.
Your Coach, Sommerly Simser
Sommerly was named to Variety Magazine’s prestigious New Leaders "To Watch" list and is the founder of the Tinseltown Scholarship Society, which supports aspiring filmmakers. She also teaches as an Adjunct Professor in the On-location Hollywood Experience Program at Abilene Christian University.
Based in Los Angeles, Sommerly holds a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism and an MFA in Producing for Cinema & Television. She began her career as an NPR reporter in West Texas before transitioning to Hollywood to pursue her passion for storytelling.
Currently at Netflix, Sommerly has worked at some of the industry's most iconic companies, including CBS, Bunim/Murray Productions, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Imagine Entertainment, and Independent Artists Group (formerly APA). She is also a proud member of the Television Academy, Women in Film and serves on the Leadership Committee for The Greenhouse Arts and Media Organization, mentoring aspiring entertainment professionals and guiding them toward success in the industry.
Driven by a passion for empowering the next generation of storytellers, Sommerly is dedicated to elevating diverse voices and fostering talent in Hollywood.
