Sommerly was named to Variety Magazine’s prestigious New Leaders "To Watch" list and is the founder of the Tinseltown Scholarship Society, which supports aspiring filmmakers. She also teaches as an Adjunct Professor in the On-location Hollywood Experience Program at Abilene Christian University.
Based in Los Angeles, Sommerly holds a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism and an MFA in Producing for Cinema & Television. She began her career as an NPR reporter in West Texas before transitioning to Hollywood to pursue her passion for storytelling.
Currently at Netflix, Sommerly has worked at some of the industry's most iconic companies, including CBS, Bunim/Murray Productions, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Imagine Entertainment, and Independent Artists Group (formerly APA). She is also a proud member of the Television Academy, Women in Film and serves on the Leadership Committee for The Greenhouse Arts and Media Organization, mentoring aspiring entertainment professionals and guiding them toward success in the industry.
